This September, Avanti Gardens School opened the doors of its new pre-school, a significant addition that promises to benefit the local community. This exciting development, made possible by the Department for Education’s School-Based Nursery Capital Grant, marks an important milestone for local families seeking high-quality early years education.
The new pre-school features spacious classrooms, a beautiful garden, and an environment focused on fostering creativity, curiosity, and wellbeing. It provides children with the ideal foundation for their learning journey, with a strong emphasis on early development and holistic care. The newly refurbished facility includes a dedicated outdoor playground, offering space for play and exploration.
Principal Harry Penny expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, saying, “I am beyond proud and delighted to see the opening of our new Avanti Gardens Pre-school. This is a key step in enriching the offerings we provide at Avanti Gardens, and it serves as an invaluable resource for families in our local community. The pre-school will reflect the values of our broader Avanti curriculum, nurturing academic curiosity alongside mindfulness, yoga, and spiritual insight.”
He added, “This opening is a testament to the dedication of our incredible team. It stands as a clear statement of our commitment to inspiring the next generation of compassionate, forward-thinking individuals.”

The pre-school will accommodate 26 full-time children across two classrooms, led by a qualified teacher. This expansion ensures that local families can access high-quality educational experience from their child’s very first steps in learning, which they will carry into their reception years.
Member of Parliament Damien Egan and Local Councillor Louis Martin, who recently toured the pre-school with Principal Penny, expressed their support for the project. Mr Egan congratulated the school on this milestone, saying, “The new pre-school at Avanti Gardens in Fishponds is now open. This is part of the Government’s new nursery programme. I visited this lovely school earlier in the year and was impressed to see how quickly they’ve put the new bursary together. Parents I spoke to are really happy. They love the ethos and learning at Avanti. Very impressed. Well done everyone!”
In its most recent Ofsted inspection in February 2024, Avanti Gardens School was rated ‘Good’ across all evaluated areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision
